Purpose: The Committee carries out programs in coordination with programs of the State Office of Handicapped Affairs in order to bring out full and equal participation in all aspects of life in the Town of people with disabilities.

Meeting Schedule: Generally, the second Friday of each month at 9am at the Town Hall. Please contact Chair to confirm date and location (781-570-2777). The public is strongly encouraged to attend!

Current activities: Develop access to public transportation within Winchester for individuals with disabilities. Develop accessible housing options within Winchester. Educate the community about the vast range of disabilities, "universal design" & "visitability" concepts, and legal requirements. Ensure appropriate medical and disaster planning supports. Educate individuals with disabilities about resources and legal rights. Ensure town compliance of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and promote voluntary private compliance. Promote the employment of individuals with disabilities.
