Town Center and Wedgemere Parking

Town Center Parking Plan

Over the past several years, the Winchester Board of Selectmen in conjunction with the Winchester Chamber of Commerce, has been overseeing the implementation of new parking regulations in Winchester Town Center. The Town Center Parking Plan has included changes to the number and location of permitted parking spaces for Town residents and Town Center employees, changes to on-street parking regulations, and the future implementation of long-term parking pay stations at several locations.

Access a copy of the Town Center parking map which includes parking lots and on street parking regulations.
Parking spaces in permitted lots may be limited due to construction projects starting in the Spring of 2017.  For information on these projects, please click here for a memo from the Town Engineer.

Parking Permits

Annual Parking Permits are back!  Effective July 1, 2015, the Town of Winchester will reinstitute the sale of annual parking permits.  Click here for more information.
As part of the Town Center Parking Plan, parking permits are available to town residents and Town Center employees for use in the following areas:
  • Bacon Street at Wedgemere Station
  • Dix Street, School Street Parking Areas
  • Jenks Center / Mount Vernon Street Lot
  • Lower Aberjona Lot
  • Lower Waterfield Lot
  • Shore Road
  • Upper Main Street Parking Area
The parking permit program is administered by the Engineering Department. Permits are issued quarterly (January - March, April - June, July - September, and October - December). Annual or monthly permits are not available. Fees for permits issued mid-quarter may be prorated for the remainder of the quarter. Permits cannot be issued at the beginning of a quarter for a portion of the quarter. The Parking Permit application is available at application for parking permits (PDF).

Permits are available to Town of Winchester residents at a cost of $125 per quarter. Residents must apply for a permit at the Winchester Engineering Department. Proof of residency is required. Permits are also available to Winchester Town Center employees free of charge. Town Center employees must provide a proof of employment.  At this time, parking permits are not available to out of town commuters that do not work in the Town Center parking area. Other key facts are outlined below:
  • Permits do not guarantee available space at any time.
  • The permit is transferable between vehicles.
  • There are no refunds or replacements for lost permits.
  • The department sends out renewal forms for the next quarter shortly before the end of the first quarter.
