Based on the order from the Board of Selectmen regarding an Energy Management Committee, the committee has established the following mission statement.
The Energy Management Committee (EMC) is charged by the Board of Selectmen with advising and assisting the Town of Winchester in the implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy related cost-saving measures for municipal buildings, facilities, and infrastructure.
Deliverables to the Town
The EMC will deliver a clear and public Energy Audit System and will benchmark the town's progress in improving its energy profile.
The EMC will work with federal, state, private, and local resources to develop and implement a Winchester Municipal Energy Action Plan.
The EMC will study and advise the town on options for improving energy efficiency for existing and planned facilities with a view toward long-term efficiency, cost savings, and reduced reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
The EMC will review and recommend potential sources of outside funding and savings and when requested will work with the Board of Selectmen in applying for and serving as a liaison to those sources.
