Wear a face mask signv2

Who: EVERYONE except children younger than 2 years of age, anyone who has trouble breathing, and anyone unable to remove the cover without assistance.

What: Cloth face coverings that cover mouth and nose.

  • Can be handmade as described here
  • Masks DO NOT need be medical grade (i.e. surgical mask or N95 mask, sometimes called N95 respirators)
  • Make sure you can breathe through it
  • Wash routinely depending on the frequency of use

Where: Inside public places (i.e. grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants when picking up take-out, common areas of residential or commercial complexes with multiple units).  Face coverings are also required at the Transfer Station.  Massachusetts also requires face coverings be worn outdoors when 6 feet cannot be maintained between people and when riding public transportation, including ride sharing.

Why: The CDC says wearing cloth face coverings is an additional public health measure people should take to reduce the spread of COVID-19. You should still stay at least 6 feet away from other people (social distancing) and practice good personal hygiene.
