Coffee and Books at the Jenks: Ecstasy: A Novel

Wednesday, May 22, 2019

This month’s selection is Ecstasy: A Novel by Mary Sharratt. In turn-of-the-century Vienna, a beautiful and magical woman turned the heads of Gustav Klimt, Gustav Mahler, and Walter Gropius. Alma Schindler studied years to become a composer but loses her heart to Gustav Mahler, nearly twenty years her senior. He demands she gives up her music. Ecstasy reveals the true Alma Mahler: composer, author, daughter, sister, mother, wife, lover, muse. Join Ann Wirtanen, Director of the Winchester Public Library, as she leads a discussion to further our understanding of this book.
