The Horseless Carriage Musical Event with Diane Taraz

Tuesday, November 29, 2022

We welcome Diane Taraz back for a new and exciting program exploring the long history of vehicles powered by wind, steam, electricity and gasoline. She will take us on a journey from two-masted wind carriages in the 1600’s to the Stanley Steamer and the Model T. Along the way we enjoy some of the many songs written about the automobile, including a romance from 1915, in which a Packard and a Ford fall in love and raise a family of Buicks. You’ll hear about the adventures, in the early days of motoring, plus tales of Oldsmobiles, Edsels, hot-rod Lincolns, and little Red Corvettes. Diane is the director of the Lexington Historical Society’s Colonial Singers and sings both soprano and alto with Vox Lucens, a 12-member a cappella Renaissance choir and the UUlations, a women’s a cappella group. Sponsored by a generous grant from The Cummings Foundation.
