Celebrate Rescue's 11th Birthday at Book Ends! - Author Event

Please joins us at Book Ends on May 13th to celebrate Rescue's 11th Birthday! Rescue is the service dog of Jessica Kensky and Patrick Downes, who were both injured during the Boston Marathon bombing. Rescue is also the inspiration for one of the titular characters of the picture book, Rescue & Jessica, by Jessica Kensky and Patrick Downes, illustrated by Scott Magoon. Birthday festivities will begin at 11 am in our kids room! There will be a reading of Rescue & Jessica, followed by a brief Q&A and an activity writing thank you letters to the service dogs and trainers at NEADS, a Massachusetts-based service dog training organization. NEADS has matched nearly 2000 service dog teams since its founding in the 70s, including Rescue, Jessica, and Patrick. We will pack up and mail any letters the kids write about the value of service animals and their thanks for all the work the dogs and trainers put in to help people in need of a service animal.
