An excessive heat warning has been issued by the National Weather Service beginning Friday, July 19 until Sunday, July 21 with a heat index expected to be near 110 degrees on both days. Winchester urges residents to take precautions during the upcoming extreme heat. Never leave children or pets alone in a closed vehicle, find air-conditioned public space, cooling location, or other cool spot for relief, stay hydrated and watch for heat-related illnesses. Please check on your family, friends, and neighbors to make sure they are safe during the extreme heat this weekend. The Winchester Public Library is the Town's cooling location, hours of operation are 9:30 am to 5:30 pm both Friday and Saturday.
