MassDEP Award

Below is a quote from the letter written to James Gibbons, Winchester Water Department:

"The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s (MassDEP) Drinking Water Program is pleased to extend its congratulations to the Winchester Water Department for its outstanding performance in 2022. Your system has achieved one of the top scores in the Medium and Large Community System Category of the 2023 Public Water Systems Awards Program.

MassDEP realizes that it is no easy task to keep up with the ever-evolving federal and state drinking water regulations. Your compliance efforts have not gone unnoticed as have your efforts to go above and beyond compliance."

Congratulations Jimmy and Winchester's Water Department!!

Winchester Farmers Market

The market is scheduled to open on June 10th this year.  You can donate to Anna's Fund before the market opens.  What is Anna's Fund?  The Anna LaViolette SNAP Matching Fund was created to honor the memory of our great friend, Anna LaViolette. Anna, an 85-year-old volunteer, was with us only two short years but she rarely missed a Saturday staffing the manager’s tent. She embodied the spirit of what the Market aspires to be: always welcoming, inquisitive, and vibrant. She was a strong believer in our mission of providing healthy, fresh food to all families.

Visit the Farmers Market website for more information.

Aberjona River Day - April 22

The Winchester Conservation Commission is once again sponsoring its annual effort to improve the habitat, environment and water quality of the Aberjona River. The Winchester Cultural District and the Griffin Museum have commissioned two found art sculptures, a herring and a heron - by Winchester resident & sculptor August Westner and photographer & conceptual artist Stefanie Timmerman, respectively. Both animals are native to the Aberjona River. Clean up and fill up these found art sculptures with the trash from your efforts. We need your help to make the most impact!
