2023 Spring Town Meeting

Spring Town Meeting ended on Monday, May 1st.  We would like to thank everyone for participating in the public hearings before town meeting and sending questions to the Town Manager's office.  Please feel free to send us questions at any time of the year.  Our email is townmanager@winchester.us.  Fall Town Meeting is scheduled to begin on November 6th.  Mark your calendars!

Fire Chief Rick Tustin Retires!

After 37 years of service, Chief Frederick "Rick" Tustin retired on Friday, April 28th.  He has served as our chief since 2019.  Of one of his many achievements he is known throughout the firefighter community as an expert in Fire Prevention and Code Enforcement.  Thank you Chief!  You will be missed by the entire community.

Affordable Housing

Sanctuary West (416 Cambridge Street) and Sanctuary North (25 River Street) are new rental communities in Winchester. Cambridge Street will have 95 units total, and River Street will have 147 units total. Both properties are in close proximity to the Middlesex Fells Reservation, various shops and restaurants, and much more. Through this process, 61 apartments will be made available to households earning no more than 80% of the Area Median Income (24 at Cambridge Street and 37 at River Street). Affordable units will have thoughtful layouts and high-end finishes, identical to the market rate units in these developments.

What's on the Town's website?

It's Yard Sale season!  Do you know that you need a permit to hold a yard sale in Winchester?  You can find the license form on the Select Board's page.  There's a $10 fee and you can have two consecutive days for the sale and two consecutive days listed as rain dates.  

We are also starting to get requests for block parties.  To request a block party, please send an email to townmanager@winchester.us and include the date, time and location of the party.  Please be advised that we do not approve parties past sunset.

The DPW is hiring Summer Help!

The Town of Winchester is looking for Summer Seasonal Employees to work with the Department of Public Works.   Manual work supporting the construction, reconstruction, repair, and maintenance of various aspects of the town’s infrastructure, schools, public facilities and grounds; all other related work, as required.
