Offering a Summer Camp for Children?

Important! A permit from the Health Department is required to operate a camp. A camp is defined by MA regulation* based on the amount of time it runs and the use of the word “camp.”

If you are thinking of offering a program for children this summer, know that a permit is required if the program is:

  • Advertised as a camp.
                 Also:
  • Offered for more than 2 hours a day and
  • operates at least 4 days over a 2 week period.

*There are limited exceptions defined in the camp regulations.
