February 26, 2018, 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM @ Jenks Center
Manhattan is one of the most critically acclaimed movies written and produced by Woody Allen, starring himself as a very successful writer who tires of writing sappy comedic television shows. He quits his job and becomes entangled in a series of complicated relationships including Mariel Hemmingway, a teenager with whom he falls in love and later leaves for Diane Keaton who plays the brainy quintessential Manhattanite. Allen’s romanticized depiction of his hometown, New York City, is a cinematic masterpiece with unparalleled views of the city. Despite Allen’s love of Manhattan, the movie is a tragicomedy that showcases crumbling relationships that are compounded by his ex- wife’s (Meryl Streep) tell-all book of their acrimonious divorce. Stars: Woody Allen, Diane Keaton, Mariel Hemingway; Rated: R; 1 hr. 33 min. Comedy/Drama/Romance 1979.
February 28, 2018, 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM @ Griffin Museum of Photography
Civic Gathering #5 convenes on February 28, at the Griffin Museum of Photography, 67 Shore Road, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The Winchester Multicultural Network, the Board of Selectpersons, the School Committee, and the Town Common Task Force join in welcoming all those WHO LIVE, WORK, OR WORSHIP IN WINCHESTER.
In Civic Gathering #5 we will further our dedication to fostering constructive collaboration. At 6:30 Koshari Mama Catering will be serving a hot food cup of koshari, a staple of Egyptian street-vendors to strengthen our spirits; later in the program, Essential Partners will lead us in an interactive presentation that will strengthen our skills in holding more productive conversations. Interspersed will be report-backs from several newer community groups and a chance in survey form to react to the work underway to establish a digital platform for the Town Common initiative.
