Come hear Gerard Doherty discuss his first-hand account of the most influential moments of the Kennedy brothers’ political lives and how the son of a Boston Firefighter got to be in the middle of it all. Mr. Doherty recently released his autobiography “They Were My Friends-Jack, Bob and Ted: My Life in and Out of Politics” that illustrates the golden age of the Kennedy dynasty. He writes with a simple voice that is both to the point and clever depicting his unlikely ascendancy working within the state of Massachusetts political leadership. He also shares behind the scenes accounts of his work in helping President Jimmy Carter and President Lyndon Johnson win the White House.
A lifelong Bostonian, lawyer, political adviser, this autobiography is a remarkable story of a man who grew up in modest circumstances, to acquire a degree from Harvard, to rise to be friends with the most famous brothers in American history. It is the American story personified.
