    Want to know what children's music classes are like at Winchester Community Music School? Free demos of selected classes for toddlers, kids, and teens are being offered during the first week of September. Come try a class and meet the teachers before fall semester begins on September 9. For a full schedule of demo classes, visit Plus, WCMS offers several great classes for adults - come to our Adult Open House on Thursday night to meet the teachers, enjoy complimentary sips & snacks, and learn more. At the end of the week, on Sunday, September 8, we are holding our annual MusicFest event along with auditions for ensembles and bands (all ages).   2. Adult Open House

    Some people think that WCMS is just for kids, but we have SO many offerings for adults and seniors too. Come learn more at our first annual Adult Open House. Explore the building, meet our faculty, learn more about classes and private lessons, and enjoy complimentary sips and snacks. Learn more about our introductory classes in piano, guitar, ukulele, and recording with Pro Tools (in our recording studio); new classes in music appreciation, music theory, and keyboard harmony; and a music & movement class especially for seniors.   3. The Mushroom’s Side of the Story

    Join Gary Gilbert, Boston Mycological Club, as he provides a comprehensive overview of these wonderful fungi in our ecosystem: from their necessary role as decayers and nutrient providers, to their role allowing nutrient transfer creating a communication system often referred to as the "Wood-Wide Web". This presentation includes a discussion about identifying varieties and a visual tour of the common ones we find in our forests. Bring in any mushrooms for discussion.
