  1. Book Presentation - Good Grief: On Loving Pets, Here and Hereafter, with EB Bartels

    Join E.B. Bartels for a presentation on a narrative nonfiction book about loving and losing animals. The book talk will take us from Massachusetts to Japan, from ancient Egypt to the modern era, in search of how we honor pets. She describes veterinarians, archaeologists, ministers, and more. Her work has appeared in Salon, Slate, WBUR, LitHub, Catapult, Electric Literature, The Rumpus, and The Millions, among others.   2. Friends & Family CPR

    FRIENDS AND FAMILY CPR TRAINING The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, adult CPR with breaths, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR, and mild and severe airway block for adults, children, and infants. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible. This class does not include a CPR Certified Completion Card.   3. Sauerkraut & Kimchi with Emily Makrez

    Join Emily Makrez, owner of F-Word Farm: a place for farming, foraging, and fermenting. You will learn the principles of fermentation via a demonstration of how to make sauerkraut with an explanation of how you can apply these same principles to making Kimchi. This demo will include the basic principles of fermentation so you will leave with the knowledge and confidence to be able to safely ferment practically anything! We will also touch on the benefits of lacto-fermented food and how adding these foods to our diets are a benefit to our overall health. Emily’s holds a Master’s degree in nutrition from Bastyr University and owns the F-Word Farm in Dracut, Massachusetts. Sponsored by a generous grant from The Cummings Foundation.
